MUSIC: come join me for a quick trip down a 7 song playlist!! xx
Dear Chasers! aka my favourite Armchair Travellers!..💋 (scroll down for the good stuff …!!) If this is your first time read here:
The first thing you should know about my taste in music is that its as extensive as selective memory and as obscure as fish shop gravy used to be down south in London. Maybe… hmmn, well, that’s a bit of shitty analogy haha. I don’t think would possibly know how else to explain it. Well, go on then, seen as though this is supposed to be an introduction - I might as well try… <3
If you like your music without politics or preconceptions and are seeking a break from the norm, you may have just found your new hangout. It's chill out Cap'n, But not as we know it! Crate digging adventures transformed into audio gymnastics for your in-flight entertainment ...the nearest I can get to public masturbation legally.
These Playlists are selectively crafted and curated with love by me, Chasey Delaney (aka SOPOETIC in the DJ world) and we all know that I am a music lover.
I choose playlists which I believe are made for lovers, not just of music but real soul searchers, dreamers and believers! every playlist will be different .
Please remember that not only will select different songs or a choose a change of genre. I will bring forth anything and everything, colouring outside the lines ;-)
We can relax, unwind or get excited, twisted, mangled-spangled, cry, drown out our sorrows, sing for our supper and all the while I will be aiming to serve a stiff 2 fingers to the nasty genre police ;-) with you riding shotgun by my side!
I always tend to fuck mix things up, emotions, feelings, vibes and all kinds - with music it pays off and i always get it right! All these playlists are designed for just you and me - us. There are NO RULES so expect the unexpected and join me on this ride tonight.
I always include eclectic selections in every single issue of The Daily Chase’s - Armchair Travellers *new playlists* feature.

Wednesday 15 November 2023 Playlist
1. Norah Jones - Sunrise
This is a gorgeous start for today and is the song that I sing whenever I see Potter’s Poems - Sunrise posts here on substack. This is one of my favourite first substacks that I subscribed to and I love this song too. The song isn’t really in keeping with the others on the list but I really wanted to share this with you. It’s in my head again anyway so lets enjoy it together.
2. Paul Simon - 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover
Following Simon's divorce from first wife Peggy Harper, Simon opted to take a more humorous approach to document the event. I first heard this song on an eclectic mix that a DJ friend made a while ago. I think it goes well with the next song too. It’s an unusually catchy song and was released and played before my time. I’m just so lucky to have heard it because I am an old old soul and love this kind of record. I feel it in my heart whenever I have a silly argument with my partner - it makes me feel better (if only momentarily..!) I always thought this song was about somebody wanting to be another person who was already in a relationship. Anyway, check it out!!
3. Steve Miller Band - The Joker
This is a smooth piece that is highly reminiscent of Van Morrison. I believe he borrowed some lyrics from a song called ‘Lovey Dovey by The Clovers’. This song takes me back to 2000’s when I fell in love for the first real (although I didn’t know real love until I met my current partner) it was my first love which turned out to be a shit show, but the Essex DJ with a mohawk spike hair cut, played this and in my young eyes, he seemed to embody this song. Until ten years later I reclaimed in on an Instagram reel I made with me ‘toking’ on a vape ;-) check it out chaseydelaney7 on my reels tab on Instagram. I have a public profile so you needed follow to see it although you’re more than welcome to follow me on there. I mainly post personal photos and it is the place for all of my poetry - I consider myself to be following in the footsteps on instapoets. I hope this track takes you back to some decent times in your memory.
4. Neil Diamond - Forever In Blue Jeans
I feel all humble when listening to this.. its just a catchy song man. A palate cleanser.
5. Noel Gallagher - We’re On Our Way Now
Just on a more cheery note… this is one of two of my current funeral songs! The lyrics “when you take those pills does it make it better” I think of my entire life going forward I have to be medicated just to survive. It’s also a song I feel closer to my Nana who died in 2013 and my dad who passed (under suspicious circumstances in my opinion) it was a heart attack but I am convinced it was self induced. Everyone tells me it’s my delusional thinking and I have to cling onto the fact that they could be right.
6. The Hollies - He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother
This was played at my Dad’s funeral his brothers, my uncles, and my partner and my brother all carried him down the church to this song. I used to hear this song on Smooth FM radio for years and years and loved it but it never sunk in as much as it did that day in the church. I am going a little morbid with these last three songs but in sorrow I still find hope and that uplifts me. As Robbie Williams once sang at the Albert Hall (or he said it on stage).. “I love all my sad songs..” it might be lyrics on his album.
7. Ozzy Osbourne - See You On The Other Side
The other one of my funeral songs. I think Ozzy wrote this for Sharon when he thought he was going to die - but don’t quote me on it. I feel the lyrics at the beginning “voices a thousand thousand voices” because I have always heard voices since schizophrenia set it and luckily for me the medication has completely eradicated them, because I can’t cope with them like some unfortunate people have to learn to live with voices. So, on a peaceful if not pleasant note.. lol … have a lovely Wednesday. Thank you . xxx
