My take on: 'Greatness is a Journey, Not a Destination' - 19 October 2024
“Greatness is not a destination, it is a continuous journey that never ends. It is a lot of small things done well every day in a great way.
HELLO! My Special (Daily) Chasers!
I’m never going to wake up one morning, go to my office, sit down and writing something incredibly profound and exciting and tick off all the boxes on my ‘To Reach Perfection List’ inside my head. I already know this, but what I have been doing is setting myself up to fail by avoiding all of those ways in which I could express myself, challenge my own ideas, type with courage and curiosity about subject matters than interest me which I am keen to explore.
I love reading about ways to improve my success and yet I had spent the past year or so going under and sinking into my skin; just to dig out everything which has caused the most discomfort to me in order to keep within my own capabilities, stay in my own lane and write about what I [do] know. Not only has this been an exhausting exploitative year of my mind, feelings and personal lifestyle, but it has also been keeping me off the beaten track that everyone else has been running along to get where they want to be. In other words; my journey hasn’t taken off yet, never mind getting any closure to any sort of ‘destination’.
In a way, you could say that’s quite clever (if it had been intentional perhaps!). I mean I have had a years worth of writing experience and adventure (I doubt some would say greatness!) I have had some ‘great’ moments and all without leaving the comfort of my crisis starting point. Greatness might not be a destination but it is a journey and that means momentum. Greatness isn’t achieved without moving something. In my case, I am going to begin motion by dipping my toe into telling people what my take on things that matter are.
For me it is about self confidence. If everyone in the room is screaming their views on Ice Cream, I’ve been standing on the outskirts shouting about Grandma’s Stew with Suet Dumplings. Yeah, this has got me noticed, looked at and often frowned upon. If savoury dishes were what people wanted, they’d know I was top of my game right there and then. There’s no point in being top of a game where there are no players, and nobody but you has any interest in it. IN other words. I set myself up to fail by not even trying to set sail.
There’s never a good day to try something different. Every day is the best day to just start. So my voice might not be the loudest or most interesting. Everyone has to start somewhere. Here I am at the starting post. In two seconds the barriers will come up and I shall be taking off with my best foot forward.

Thank you for coming on board!! . . .BON VOYAGE! x.x.x..!!
Greatness is rarely achieved in the good days, it is achieved through times of adversity and daring challenges that confront you each day and how you overcome them.
”Greatness is coming face to face with difficulty, enduring pain, going through struggles and times of uncertainty, to encounter fear but still having the courage to carry on. It’s choosing to fight through even when surrendering looks like the best option, It is going through all that life throws at you without losing sight of your goal. The goal is reached on the path towards the goal. Greatness is not something in the distant future, it is right here, it is who you are and it is seen in how you live every day”
Sometimes greatness is one small step in the right direction. I believe that we are ALREADY GREAT and greatness is in the way in which we express ourselves.
Think of something that made you feel great today? Write it in the comments and sharing something you posted, published, created, or found great on Substack recently…xxx
We are all great and have greatness inside of us, ONE OF THESE DAYS, we will realise this somewhere on our journey, mid-transit.
I include playlists these days for you to use as a prop in the background whilst writing, making art, being productive. Enjoy!
